MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – Belarus and China intend to sign an interagency protocol on border cooperation, BelTA learned from representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus after the Committee's Chairman Anatoly Lappo met with a delegation of the Chinese Public Security Ministry.
The head of the Belarusian border service agency mentioned the importance of Belarus-China cooperation in fighting transboundary crimes. “The effectiveness of bilateral relations is of strategic importance for creating the Silk Road Economic Belt, too. From the point of view of the large-scale international initiative cooperation of all agencies at the border plays a vital role in security,” noted representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus.
The delegation of the Chinese Public Security Ministry will stay in Belarus through 18 August. Members of the delegation are expected to get familiar with the physical infrastructure of the Border Service Institute. They will visit OOO Regula, which develops and makes various kinds of hardware, including for border control purposes. Apart from that, they will visit Grodno Oblast where they will be able to evaluate the infrastructure at border checkpoints of various classes and the organization of border service at a border service station.
Minutes of the working meeting will also be signed as a result of the visit.
