ISLAMABAD, 6 October (BelTA) - Parliaments of the two states have a special role in the development of relations between Belarus and Pakistan. The statement to this effect was made during a meeting between Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Speaker of Pakistan National Assembly Sardar Sadiq, BelTA has learned.
At the meeting it was noted that the development of bilateral relations between the countries is not only the job of the governments. “Governments do not have this role of parliaments. Work and cooperation of parliaments is public diplomacy in its highest degree,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
For his part, Sardar Sadiq stressed that Belarus and Pakistan exchange regular visits at different levels. The Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan plans to invite representatives of the Belarusian parliament to his country in the near future.
