MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has approved the concept of the Belarus-Russia joint strategic army exercise West 2017, BelTA informs.
The army exercise is scheduled for September 2017. It will be the final stage in the joint training of the Belarusian and Russian armed forces in 2017. Following the resolution of the heads of state, such army exercises are held once in two years in one of the two countries.
The forthcoming exercise will focus on the training and deployment of army units (armed forces) for the protection of the military security of the Union State.
The event aims to improve the interoperability of command units of various levels, the integration of promising troop and ammunition control systems, the assessment of the provisions of new statutory documents prepared in the armed forces of Belarus and Russia, the training of commanders, commandants and staffs in the planning of military events for the stabilization of the situation and operation of army units (armed forces).
The process-oriented training of military command bodies and armies will take place on the firing ranges of Belarus and Russia.
The army exercise will be divided into two stages. Apart from the deployment of army units, the exercise will focus on the fulfillment of territorial defense tasks, better protection of the state border, restoration of the defense capacity of the armed forces, comprehensive support of the army.
