Belarus seeks new non-Russian markets to sell food

DZERZHINSK DISTRICT, 30 March (BelTA) – It is essential to look for new sales markets if there are any problems with the delivery of foodstuffs to Russia, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during his working trip to Dzerzhinsk District, Minsk Oblast, on 30 March, BelTA has learned.

“As for export, look for other markets. If Russia does understand you and does not want to understand, well, I will meet with the Russian president after the inauguration to discuss all the issues in detail. We need to clarify things. If they are going to pressurize us for no matter what, we will seek our fortune in other places. Therefore, look for other markets. You should not focus on one market all the time,” the head of state said.

“They have imported powdered milk from New Zealand. What have they brought, what do they offer to people? It is their problem. They do not understand it and do not want to understand. And we must protect our that which do not contradict their interests. We do not sell bad products to them. Even auditors say that Belarusian products are good. Therefore, we will make decisions this year,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.

The head of state was informed that the balance sheets on the delivery of dairy products have not been signed yet, the sides continue negotiations. There was an opinion that the efforts of the Russian side to stop the deliveries of products from a number of Belarusian enterprises are also connected with the import of powdered milk from New Zealand. Additional volumes of Belarusian food reduce prices on the Russian market.
