MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – Heads of municipal government agencies should act decisively as they exercise their authority but without smashing things up and without revolutions. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the government conference held on 3 April to discuss the development of the countryside and ways to bolster agribusiness effectiveness, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko noted: “I have a feeling — I will certainly check whether I am right or not — that with our power system we have moved the heads of district administrations away from the execution of their duties a bit. They sit and wait for instructions from their oblast governor. If they receive instructions, they act upon them. If they don't, they just keep sitting and waiting. Don't wait for anyone! You have your districts to take care of. Go and act!”
“I want you to work and live honestly. People see you every day. Act, exercise your powers. If you are right, you will always realize your rightness. Everyone should act in their line of work. Without smashing things up, without revolutions. Just the way people should act,” said the Belarusian leader.
The government conference lasted for about five hours. Participants of the conference discussed in detail virtually all the aspects of improving and developing agribusiness, the role of science in bolstering the effectiveness of agribusiness. Heads of regional administrations and heads of companies delivered reports on concrete areas of work on the regional and local scales.
Practical matters concerning the operation of Belarusian agricultural enterprises were discussed as well as more general matters like mergers of enterprises, the use of leasing schemes to buy machines, personnel training, payments for delivered agricultural products, financing, lending, bankruptcy procedures, land amelioration, and pedigree breeding work.
Alexander Lukashenko promised continued support to agricultural enterprises, yet money will be allocated only for promising projects. “We have money but only for projects, which can recoup investments. We need solid guarantees,” stressed the head of state.
At the end of the government conference the head of state said he wanted the instructions given in response to all the unearthed issues to be precisely fulfilled. “Everything we have agreed on must be fulfilled. I don't want you to forget everything after walking out of here. Everything should work hard. We need results. But results cannot be achieved without strict technological and manufacturing discipline,” stressed the head of state.
