MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) – A meeting of the Belarusian-Latvian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, and sci-tech cooperation is underway in Riga, Anatoly Glaz, the head of the department of information and digital diplomacy (spokesperson) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, told the media on 6 September, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian part of the commission is led by Transport and Communications Minister Anatoly Sivak. The Latvian part of the commission is headed by Minister for Transport Uldis Augulis. The meeting was preceded by talks between experts on digital economy, environmental protection and energy and the meetings of the Belarusian-Latvian council on business cooperation and the working group on tourism.
The agenda of the meeting of the intergovernmental commission includes a wide range of issues related to Belarus-Latvia cooperation in transport and logistics, agriculture and forestry, environmental protection, education, science and technology, regional and border cooperation, and contacts between Minsk and Riga.
The commission plans to pays separate attention to the implementation of the intergovernmental cooperation plan for the midterm, which was developed and approved following the meeting of the prime ministers of Belarus and Latvia in Minsk in February 2018.
