Normandy Four leaders to hold telephone talks 24 July

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) - Telephone talks between the Normandy Four leaders will be held on 24 July, Martin Sajdik, the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine, told the media in Minsk on 24 July, BelTA has learned.

The telephone talks will be held with the participation of France President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Ambassador Martin Sajdik noted that the working group for security returned to the issue of protecting vital infrastructure and expressed readiness to create security zones around a pumping station near Vasilievka and the Donetsk water filtering station. There was also a discussion about the separation of forces and means in the region of Stanitsa Luganskaya. “In this regard, I would like to express my sincere hope for positive decisions in the run-up to the teleconference talks between the Normandy Four leaders on 24 July,” the diplomat said.

The working group for economic affairs, he said, discussed the payment for water supplies. The working group for humanitarian affairs continued harmonizing the lists of detained people. “In terms of these lists the parties managed to agree on a few more positions,” Ambassador Martin Sajdik said. The parties also exchanged views on the issue of the repair of the bridge in Stanitsa Luganskaya.

Finally, the working group for political affairs continued the discussion of the matters related to the Steinmeier formula in the context of the Normandy format recent meetings,” the OSCE representative said.
