MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) - Dmitry Mironchik, head of the information and digital diplomacy office, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the decision of the EU Council to prolong the restrictive measures against Belarus. The commentary is available on the official website of the ministry, BelTA informs.
“We have read the press release of the EU Council's press service of 23 February 2018. From the outset the sanctions were unfounded. In principle we oppose the use of unilateral restrictive measures in international relations,” the ministry said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is convinced that the decision to prolong the restrictive measures is not in keeping with the spirit of normal partnership relations between Belarus and the EU. “At the same time we paid attention to the fact that the EU withdraw some sports weapons from the arms embargo,” Dmitry Mironchik.
“We reaffirm Belarus' commitment to the development of pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation with the EU without any sanctions and political constraints,” the spokesman said.
