MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei urged not to look for Belarus' political dividends in its position on the situation in the region as he talked to the Belarus 1 TV channel on 4 September, BelTA informs.
“It is clear that people will continue to voice their opinions on this topic. But the matter is not in any way about some political dividends. We are affected by the confrontation in the region: in trade, economic, political and humanitarian terms. Therefore, Belarus' policy is clearly aimed at restoring peace, stability and security. This policy will continue. The head of state gave clear, specific guidelines on this,” the minister noted.
When asked about Belarus' neutral position on the conflict in Ukraine, the minister said: “The president said that we do not force ourselves as mediator. We believe that we need to live in peace, friendship and harmony with all our neighbors. Our policy is aimed at easing confrontation, promoting cooperation, security and stability in the region.”
