MOSCOW, 1 December (BelTA) – Advancing cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union remains a high priority in Russia's foreign policy. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement in his annual address to the parliament on 1 December, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Putin said: “Further advancement of cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union and interaction with other CIS states remain high priorities in Russia's foreign policy.”
According to the President of Russia, the idea to form a multilevel integration model in Eurasia or the Greater Eurasian Partnership is of serious interest. “We have already started discussing it at various international and regional levels,” noted the President of Russia. “I am convinced that it is possible to discuss it with countries of the European Union, too. Their demand for an independent political and economic policy is on the rise today.”
Vladimir Putin also said that there is a huge potential for cooperation between Russia and the Asian-Pacific region. “Russia's vigorous eastern policy is driven not by fleeting considerations or coolness in relations with the USA or the European Union but by long-term national interests and global development trends,” he stressed.
