Contact group on Ukraine to reconvene in Minsk on 23 August

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – The next session of the contact group on resolving the situation in the east of Ukraine will take place in Minsk on 23 August, OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik told the media on 2 August, BelTA has learned.

Martin Sajdik said that the participants of the negotiation process will have a three-week break. “The next meeting of the trilateral contact group will take place in Minsk on 23 August,” he noted.

During the meeting on 2 August, the contract group reached an agreement on several matters related to the lists of persons detained in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. The situation with the supply of water to certain districts of Lugansk Oblast is stabilizing. The working group on security continued discussing ways to ensure security near vital civilian infrastructure. The group also achieved progress in the talks on the list of new forces and means disengagement areas. The discussion in the working group on political affairs on the application of the so-called Steinmeier formula yielded no results.
