MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – Experts are evaluating the Belarus-Russia Union State Treaty for compliance with the modern realities, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov told a press conference timed to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia on 2 April, BelTA has learned.
“Experts at different levels are assessing the treaty for compliance with today's realities, taking into account the formation of a new economic bloc (the Eurasian Economic Union), political and economic situation. After this assessment, decisions will be made at relevant levels, and the work may get underway to make amendments to the Union State Treaty,” Alexander Surikov underlined.
According to State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota, the document is to be analyzed along with the whole legal framework of the integration association. “We plan to finish the analysis by H2 2018. Then we will decide whether we should amend the basic documents, among the the Union State Treaty, evidently,” he noted.
