MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) - Belarus intends to focus on connectivity topic during its presidency in the Central European Initiative (CEI) in 2017, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said when speaking at the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Hamburg, BelTA has learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Within the framework of Belarus' Presidency of the Central European Initiative (CEI) in 2017 we intend to focus on connectivity topic. Taking into account the intention of the Austrian CiO to keep this topic on the OSCE agenda, we count on active interaction between the CEI and the OSCE in this and other areas,” the minister said.
Belarus welcomes the discussion initiated by the German CiO within the OSCE second dimension on the issue of connectivity.
The existence of a robust parliamentary component in the OSCE is a serious advantage of this Organization. Interparliamentary contacts are exactly those “breeding ground” which often give rise to important constructive decisions allowing bridging interstate differences and overcoming contradictions. “Exactly with this constructive and productive discussion in mind that the Belarusian party is getting prepared to the next year's summer session of the OSCE PA in Minsk,” Vladimir Makei noted.
