MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Belarus intends to complete negotiations on joining the World Trade Organization in H1 2020, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi during the 11th international applied science conference Economic Growth of the Republic of Belarus: Globalization, Innovations, Sustainability on 17 May.
The official noted that a number of things with a positive effect for Belarus have happened in the international scene lately. “For instance, active negotiations on Belarus' accession to the WTO have been resumed. We intend to finish this process by late 2019 – H1 2020,” said Dmitry Krutoi.
Dmitry Krutoi also reminded that after a period of sanctions Belarus had returned to the international borrowing market and had floated three tranches of eurobonds to the tune of $2 billion. The world's top rating agencies have improved the country's ratings. “Besides, Belarus has improved its positions in the OECD rating. We've been trying to accomplish that for the last 15 years,” he stressed.
The 11th international applied science conference Economic Growth of the Republic of Belarus: Globalization, Innovation, Sustainability is taking place in the Belarusian State Economic University. Over 400 people are taking part in the conference.
