MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) - The number of small and medium-sized businesses has been growing in Belarus, Belarus' Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Matusevich told the media, BelTA has learned.
Dmitry Matusevich drew attention to the positive small business dynamics in January. The ordinance on entrepreneurship development came into force on 27 February. But in fact it started working earlier, having boosted business activities in the country. According to Dmitry Matusevich, the number of the self-employed, craftsmen has increased.
The Economy Ministry expects that, thanks to the ordinance on entrepreneurship development, business will be growing in various areas, not only services but also manufacturing, freight transportation and so on.
Minsk is playing host to the 19th Assembly of Business Circles of Belarus “From Opportunity to Reality”. The forum is the main draw of the 3rd Belarusian Business Week which is running from 22 February to 3 March.
The Assembly is considering the draft Belarus' national business platform 2018. The major topics of the document are fair competition, simplification of the tax system, regional development, business regulation, elimination of red tape and counteraction to corruption, the dialogue between business and authorities, the enforcement of Decree No.8 “On Development of Digital Economy”.
Attending the Assembly are businessmen, representatives of the government bodies, heads of the institutions of higher education, the National Academy of Sciences, scientific and analytical centers, experts, winners of the Startup of the Year competition and social entrepreneurship.
