Remittances to Belarus rise by 15% in 2016

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – The amount of remittances to Belarus from abroad increased by 15% in 2016, reads the statistical report of Belarus National Bank, BelTA has learned.

In 2016 the citizens received $323.4 million in remittances from abroad through international money transfer systems. In 2015 the figure stood at $280.85 million. Meanwhile, $151.3 million was sent from Belarus abroad in 2016 (vs $155.9 million in 2015).

Belarusians received the biggest amount of remittances, $95.9 million, in Q4 2016. The average amount of a money transfer in 2016 was $314.56 ($341.6 in the previous year).

Money transfers were carried out through international money transfer systems such as Western Union, Unistream, Golden Crown, Contact, BLIZKO, Leader, MoneyGram, Colibri, Faster, Anelik, and InterExpress.
