Pakistani delegation to study prospects of cooperation in light industry with Belarus

MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) - The Pakistani delegation, including representatives of the Ministry of Commerce, the Trade Development Authority, and businessmen, arrived in Minsk on 28 March, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Pakistan.

The delegation is set to visit the international wholesale fair of light industry goods BelTexIndustry 2018 (28-30 March), take part in the Belarusian-Pakistani expert consultations on cooperation areas, and conduct negotiations with Belarusian textile and trade enterprises. The members of the Pakistan delegation are expected to meet with representatives of Bellegprom Concern, the Industry Ministry and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and also visit the production areas of a number of Belarusian light industry manufacturers.

The purpose of the visit is to study concrete areas of further cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan in the sphere of light industry at the state and business levels with the implementation of joint projects, as well as preparations for Pakistan's large-scale participation in the international specialized exhibition of light and textile goods Beltexlegprom. Autumn 2018, scheduled for October in Minsk.

According to the embassy, Pakistan is one of the world's top cotton producers with a developed textile industry. The country exports raw materials, threads and fabrics, as well as various types of finished textile products, including women's, men's and children's clothes, sporting goods, bed and kitchen linen. At the same time the light industry, based on the country's own raw materials (flax fiber, chemical fibers, leather raw materials), high-skilled personnel, and a huge consumption market both in the country and abroad is also one of the leading industries in Belarus. According to the embassy, ​​taking into account the potential of both the countries in the textile sector, there are good prospects for cooperation in the sector, including mutual supplies of raw materials and ready-made textile products.
