Main work to upgrade Orsha District enterprises to begin in 2018

ORSHA, 9 November (BelTA) – The main work to upgrade Orsha District enterprises will begin in 2018, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov, who was in Vitebsk Oblast on 9 November on a working trip.

Andrei Kobyakov visited key industrial enterprises in Orsha District to see how the head of state's instructions to develop them were being fulfilled. “I cannot say the enterprises are making huge steps forward. Not yet. But it is important that they have determined their prospects and can see their future. In an overwhelming majority of cases investment projects already have intended sources of funding. The bulk of the work required to upgrade the enterprises, assimilate new technologies, acquire modern equipment will be done in 2018. Some of the work will be finished in 2019. Serious calculations have been made regarding markets and ways to sell merchandise,” stressed the prime minister.

The head of government remarked he had been pleasantly impressed with the heads of the enterprises. “I could see they know what to do,” noted. “The personnel potential of the executive corps has been greatly strengthened since spring. Replacements have been done. I see that the executives know well the manufacturing sector and the technologies. They see prospects.”

Summing up what he had seen, Andrei Kobyakov added that the foundation had been laid for making Orsha District an example for others to follow. However, everyone will have to do a lot of work. “The problems currently plaguing the enterprises have deep roots. They cannot be resolved in a day, a month or even a year,” he concluded.

During the tour of Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant in the town of Bolbasovo the implementation of the local investment project was discussed as well as problems in the company's operation. The construction of a multimodal industrial and logistics hub was mentioned, too.

The implementation of investment projects was also discussed at the enterprise Tekhnika Svyazi in the town of Baran.

During the tour of the Legmash factory Andrei Kobyakov was informed about the fulfillment of the government's instructions concerning efforts to normalize the company's operation and implement investment projects to make high-pressure bottles and equipment for the oil and gas industry.

The head of government also went to see the Orsha instrument factory and the automatic control instruments factory.

Preparations for building a dairy farm for 1,000 head of cattle and a complex for preparing seeds of agricultural crops with the output capacity of 10,000 tonnes per annum were discussed at the agricultural enterprise Ustye of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Andrei Kobyakov visited a local hospital to find out how the president's instructions to finish building a wing of the healthcare institution had been fulfilled.

Apart from that, there are plans to discuss the fulfillment of the government's instructions to ensure the lossless operation and the development of enterprises accountable to the Architecture and Construction Ministry in Orsha today. Measures to address shortcomings in Orsha District retail will be discussed as well.
