MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) - Digitalization of the economy is among Belarus' priorities, Belarus' Permanent Representative to the OSCE Ambassador Alena Kupchyna said at the concluding meeting of the 26th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum “Promoting economic progress and security in the OSCE area through innovation, human capital development, and good public and corporate governance”, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus.
The concluding meeting focused on the following key issues: fostering a multi-stakeholder approach to leverage the opportunities of digital economy; promoting digital security in the business sector; digital innovations as a tool to strengthen good public and corporate governance; boosting innovative business models and economic connectivity in the digital era; harnessing opportunities and addressing challenges for human capital development in the digital era; contributions by the participating states to the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Milan in the economic and environmental track.
In her statement Alena Kupchyna noted that Belarus pays priority attention to digitalization of economy, maximizing the potential of digital technologies in order to promote, among other things, synergistic development of digital and transport infrastructure and harmonize digital markets, which contributes to the trade and economic cooperation between the OSCE participating states in general. The head of Belarus' delegation stressed the importance of promoting interaction in the digital economy, building up effective connections in cyberspace both among states and also various integration processes in the Eurasian continent.
The event was attended by OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger, Italy's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Guglielmo Picchi, delegations of 57 OSCE participating states.
Alena Kupchyna also acted as moderator at the closing meeting of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum, during which the OSCE secretary general, representatives of the current Italian and forthcoming Slovak chairmanships summed up the event.
