MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Regional councils on business promotion will be set up in all the oblasts of Belarus by mid-June, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Business Promotion Council Alexander Turchin on 25 May.
The official said: “The work to set up regional business promotion councils is virtually finished. Only Vitebsk Oblast is left. The relevant resolution of the oblast administration is required over there. It will be done by the middle of June if not in May.”
Alexander Turchin remarked that the councils are also hard at work. “Maybe not as fast as we want it but the work goes on. The first few sessions have been held, problems are being discussed. It is very important that such dialogue platforms are emerging for discussing controversial matters,” he stressed.
Speaking about other initiatives the Business Promotion Council is working on, Alexander Turchin reminded that the work to amend presidential decree No.488 on measures to prevent the illegal minimization of sums of tax liabilities is nearing completion. Apart from that, there are plans to discuss amendments to some articles of the Criminal Code, namely articles 233 and 234, which deal with illegal business activities and false entrepreneurship. “We've submitted our proposals to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus and suggested discussing them with representatives of the private sector, lawyers, and members of the parliament in order to come up with some general consensus,” stated Alexander Turchin.
