MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian national electrical company Belenergo and the Russian company Ural Turbine Works have signed a cooperation agreement, Belenergo representatives told BelTA.
A delegation of Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast stayed in Belarus on 26 February – 1 March. Two documents were signed during the visit to sketch out prospects of cooperation between the Russian turbine manufacturer and the Belarusian energy industry.
Belenergo and Ural Turbine Works have signed a framework agreement on prospective cooperation in implementing power engineering projects in Belarus. In line with the document the two sides intend to cooperate in designing and manufacturing steam cogeneration turbines and condensation turbines. The sides will also work together in equipment upgrade, delivery of original spare parts, aftersales maintenance and equipment installation at Belenergo facilities.
To expand the agreement, Ural Turbine Works signed a subcontract agreement with the Belenergostroy enterprise on reconstructing Minsk cogeneration plant No.3. The Russian company will provide modern substitute turbine equipment as well as boiler equipment, generator equipment, cargo-lifting equipment, and other technological equipment for the central wing of Minsk cogeneration plant No.3. Apart from that, Ural Turbine Works will perform design and exploration work as well as startup and commissioning.
The new turbine plant represents a new generation of turbines designed to replace T-100 turbines — the most popular batch-produced turbine made by Ural Turbine Works. The new model boasts totally different designs of all the cylinders, their foundations, rotors, steam distribution nodes, and some alterations of the turbine blade design. As a result, the new model boasts increased output with lower fuel consumption and higher reliability.
At present Minsk cogeneration plant No.3 supplies about 25% of the energy the capital city of Belarus needs. The implementation of all the steps of the project to retool the central wing of Minsk cogeneration plant No.3 will nearly double the amount of electricity the cogeneration plant produces annually. The heat energy output will be increased by 50%.
Ural Turbine Works has already contributed to retooling Minsk cogeneration plant No.3. An effective combined-cycle gas turbine PGU-230 was commissioned in 2009.
