MINSK, 15 February (BelTA) – About 300 people are taking part in the Belarusian-Turkish Business Forum, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich told the media on 15 February, BelTA informs.
“These are representatives of about 70 leading companies from Turkey, and more than 140 Belarusian enterprises. This proves that we have a very high potential,” the BelCCI head stressed.
According to Vladimir Ulakhovich, Belarus and Turkey are actively cooperating in develop new areas for joint work. “We rely on many years of experience of cooperation. There are a number of Turkish companies with their success stories on the Belarusian market. Our current prospects include industrial cooperation, Turkish investments in modernization, the creation of new manufacturing facilities, the development of new technologies,” he said.
The BelCCI head emphasized that logistics and sci-tech cooperation can become new cooperation sectors. “There is a traditional sphere that we would also like to develop. It is industrial cooperation in mechanical engineering. It needs an impetus,” he said.
Vladimir Ulakhovich also spoke about the development of cooperation between small and medium-sized businesses. “Not long ago Belarus adopted two important decrees. One of them, Decree No. 7, initiates the development of private entrepreneurship, supports small and medium-sized enterprises. Our country is export-oriented, and even the smallest enterprise should think about where its products will go. Therefore, another emphasis is on the support and development of foreign economic cooperation of small and medium-sized businesses. Half of the Belarusian forum participants are small and medium-sized enterprises,” he stated.
The Belarusian-Turkish Business Forum in Minsk features a plenary meeting and a business matchmaking event. During the forum, representatives of the business communities of the two countries are set to discuss the prospects for economic cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest such as machine-building, chemical industry, textile industry, woodworking, logistics, information technology.
