Belarus to partake in Atomexpo forum in Sochi on 14-16 May

MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – Belarus will take part in the tenth international forum Atomexpo 2018, which is due in Sochi on 14-16 May, BelTA has learned.

Representatives of the Belarusian Energy Ministry and the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant will traditionally attend events of the forum. The stand of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will outline progress in implementing the project to build the nuclear power plant near Ostrovets.

This year's Atomexpo's theme will be Global Partnership – Joint Success. The three-day business program of the forum will feature over 20 events — a plenary session, panel sessions, roundtable meetings, and presentations. In particular, the roundtable session on building competences of novice countries and countries, which are busy expanding their nuclear energy programs, will consider the experience of developing the nuclear infrastructure in the UAE and Belarus, the IAEA's experience with regard to nuclear infrastructure assessment missions, and a number of matters that countries face as they set up regulatory bodies.

The ceremony to present Atomexpo Awards will take place as part of the forum for the first time ever. A number of awards will be bestowed upon internationally recognized companies for making considerable contributions to the development of the nuclear energy industry. The contest of projects by the companies, which have participated in Atomexpo forums in 2009-2018, will feature five nominations: Best Launch, Nuclear Technologies for Better Life, Innovation for the Future, Public Communication, and Human Capital Development. Companies from 22 countries, including from Belarus, have submitted their applications for the contest.

The international nuclear industry forum Atomexpo has been held since 2009 upon the initiative of the Russian state corporation Rosatom. In this period the forum has attracted about 38,000 people from 83 countries. As many as 987 companies have presented their expositions.
