Belarus to expand cooperation with China's Hubei

MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – Belarus and China's Hubei Province agreed to expand cooperation. The partnership was discussed at a meeting of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation with Deputy Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Hubei Province Wang Lin, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

Hubei Province shows interest in joint projects with the Belarusian business in the fields of engineering, transport, metallurgy, and laser equipment. “Our province is China's engineering hub, which annually produces more than 3 million vehicles. An example of successful partnership with Belarus in the industrial sector was the establishment of the joint venture Volat-Sanjiang, which specializes in the production of hydraulic equipment. It would be great if we had more such projects,” said Wang Lin. Among the possible areas of cooperation is the production of high-speed rail transport.

Agriculture is another promising area for cooperation. “People in the Hubei Province like Belarusian dairy products and juices very much. We also have something to offer. For example, our province ranks first in China in the production of freshwater fish,” Wang Lin said.

Hubei Province is also interested in developing cooperation in science, innovation, education, culture, and tourism. “We will be glad to develop partnership with businessmen of Belarus and are ready to do our best to promote this cooperation,” she said.

Andrei Rybak, the Chairman of the House of Representatives' Standing Committee on Industry, Fuel and Energy, Transport and Communications thanked for the meeting on behalf of the parliamentary delegation. He supported the initiative to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Hubei Province and invited the companies to become residents of the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. Particular attention was paid to the possibility of developing cooperation in education and youth affairs.

While in China, the Belarusian MPs also visited the Chinese company CRSIC (China Railway Science & Industry Group Corporation) on 28 March to discuss possible areas of cooperation.
