Belarus-Sweden trade up 30% in H1 2018

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – The trade between Belarus and Sweden reached $83.8 million in H1 2018, 28.9% up from the same period a year ago, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian embassy in Sweden.

The Belarusian export grew 73.1% to make up $24.4 million. The supplies of Swedish products to Belarus increased by 16.7% to $59.4 million.

Belarus' main exports to Sweden included potash fertilizers, furniture, wood pellets and wood chips produced by a number of private and state-run companies. Belarusian producers also fulfilled their obligations of the contracts on the supply of peat and deicing salts.

Belarusian pine and spruce seed producers, long-standing partners of Swedish foresters, increased sales more than three times.

Sweden's major supplies to Belarus are products of mechanical engineering (trucks and tractive units, road and construction machinery) and chemical industry (artificial wax, polyethylene, paints and varnishes). The biggest growth in H1 was registered in the supplies of gas turbines, equipment for the forestry sector and combustion engines.

The diplomatic mission stressed that Belarus and Sweden do their best to promote bilateral trade.
