Belarus' social and economic development forecast for 2019 drafted

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarus has drafted its social and economic development forecast for 2019 and the main macroeconomic guidelines through 2021, BelTA learned from the website of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.

On 22 May the Economy Ministry hosted a meeting of the ministerial working group chaired by Belarus' First Deputy Prime Minister Vasily Matyushevsky. The working group met to decide on Belarus' social and economic development forecast for 2019. Opening the meeting Economy Minister Vladimir Zinovsky emphasized a big amount of work done to develop scenario terms, economic growth drivers and factors for the coming three years. “We have met here today to take critical decisions to ensure economic balance in the country, enhance the efficiency of the state sector, secure efficient deployment of resources. They will make the base for developing future forecast documents,” he said.

The draft concept of Belarus' social and economic development forecast for 2019 and the main macroeconomic guidelines through 2021 were presented to the participants of the meeting by Belarus' Deputy Economy Minister Alexander Chervyakov.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the major forecast parameters of external and internal conditions, their influence on possible scenarios of the country's economic performance in 2019-2021, component parts of the 2019 forecast from the perspective of economic growth drivers.

The participants of the meeting put forward a number of proposals for the draft concept. The finalized version will be considered at an expanded meeting of the board with the participation of the ministerial working group and then presented at the Presidium of the Council of Ministers.

Attending the meeting on 22 May was Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Kalechits, First Deputy Labor and Social Security Minister Andrei Lobovich, Manager of the Social Security Fund of the Labor and Social Protection Ministry Natalia Pavlyuchenko, Chairman of the Council of the Republic's Standing Committee on Economy, Budget and Finances Vladimir Pantyukhov, and others.
