MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – It is necessary to sharpen focus on enterprises located in small and medium towns, newly appointed Industry Minister Pavel Utyupin told reporters. He was introduced to the staff of the ministry by Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko on 20 August, BelTA has learned.
“I guess we should pay more attention to enterprises located in small and medium towns. Taking into consideration that enterprises affiliated with the Industry Ministry operate all over the country, their work has an impact on social and economic situation in every town. Therefore, it is very important,” Pavel Utyupin said.
Speaking about the tasks facing the Industry Ministry and industrial enterprises, the minister noted that they remain unchanged – to roll out new products, upgrade enterprises, and implement investment projects.
“No one is going to veer off the course outlined by the head of state and systematized in many long-term programs. These tasks are still on the table. Naturally, we are expected to come up with more efficient solutions to fulfill them,” he emphasized.
Strategic partners will be involved in addressing the issues. “No one is against privatization. The main thing is its purpose,” Pavel Utyupin said.
Pavel Utyupin started out as a deputy director for foreign economic contacts at the Borisov-based company Double B. After that he worked as head of the foreign economic department at the UTB company, economist at the Belarus-Germany-Russia venture Frebor, advisor and chief advisor to Mogilev Oblast Governor.
In 2006 he was appointed Deputy Director General for Economy and Finance at Belshina. In 2011 he was promoted to Deputy Industry Minister and held this position till 2017. Until recently Pavel Utyupin was Deputy Economy Minister.
