MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) - Belarus is set to step up industrial cooperation with Serbia, Ambassador of Belarus to Serbia Valery Brylev said at a meeting between the diplomatic corps and manufacturers in the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, BelTA has learned.
“Serbia is interested in the development of relations in all areas. With regard to trade, the traditional export items are vehicles and equipment. We have plants in Serbia assembling tractors, buses, fire trucks for the needs of the Emergencies Ministry of Serbia,” Valery Brylev said.
Projects to set up plants to assemble harvesters and to open trading houses are in the pipeline.
In 2017 Belarus-Serbia trade was approximately $240 million. This year the Belarusian export continues to grow. The free trade agreement between Belarus and Serbia is a good basis for bolstering ties, the ambassador believes.
Valery Brylev noted that Belarus and Serbia have traditionally good political relations. “The president may visit Serbia this year if there is a good agenda,” he said.
