Belarus interested in high-tech manufacturing together with Chinese Chongqing

MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in setting up high-tech manufacturing enterprises together with the Chinese city of Chongqing. Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Kalinin made the statement as he met with Chongqing Mayor Tang Liangzhi on 13 July, BelTA has learned.

Anatoly Kalinin said: “We are interested in expanding cooperation with Chongqing across the board starting with enabling transit along the Belt and Road route, cooperation in tourism and education and ending with the establishment of joint high-tech ventures in the industrial park Great Stone, which represents the most prominent example of Belarus-China cooperation.”

The Chongqing city delegation will visit the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone tomorrow where it will be made familiar with business operation terms and advantages of the industrial park. “Most of Chinese provinces are already represented in the park with their own companies. We look forward to the arrival of Chongqing companies,” said the deputy prime minister.

Anatoly Kalinin said he was confident that the visit of the Chongqing delegation will have a positive effect on the advancement of Belarus-China cooperation.

In turn, Tang Liangzhi noted that the key purpose of the visit was the practical implementation of the agreements reached by the leaders of Belarus and China. He mentioned the advancement of trade and economic relations and humanitarian exchange.

Chongqing is located in the central part of China. Home to over 30 million people, it is the largest of China's four direct-controlled municipalities. Its GDP growth averaged 10% per annum in the last four years. Chongqing is a major hub for China-Europe railway service. Chongqing has been twinned with Minsk Oblast.

The first specialized shop to sell Belarusian food was opened in Chongqing in 2018.
