A memorial sign was solemnly unveiled in Polotsk, Vitebsk Oblast on Belarusian Written Language Day to mark the city as the birthplace of Belarusian statehood. The composition consists of two parts — a bronze one and a granite one. The bronze one is made of shields portraying outstanding historical figures, who stood at the origins of Belarusian statehood.
