16 November was the ninth day that refugees had been staying at the Belarusian-Polish border. People had to spend the night on cold concrete at the border checkpoint Bruzgi. Many of them could not fall asleep at all.
The number of vehicles on the Polish side of the border increased overnight: four water cannons were parked in the narrow road leading to the Polish border checkpoint in the morning. The refugee camp with women and children was located opposite to the water cannons.
Tensions flared up at the Belarusian-Polish border by midday. Driven into desperation, the refugees tried to break through to the Polish territory.
After the situation was stabilized, some refugees returned to the spontaneous camp in the forest while some remained near the border checkpoint Bruzgi.
Belarusian authorities opened a nearby logistics hub to accommodate and warm up the frozen people.
