MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Director, General Secretary of the Belarusian Basketball Federation Anastasiya Marinina met with representatives of the Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy during a visit of the Belarusian basketball delegation to Abu Dhabi, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Basketball Federation.
The parties discussed cooperation plans in 5x5 and 3x3 women's basketball development, agreed to organize joint training camps, friendlies and tournaments, and also seminars for referees and coaches.
The hosts were interested in the structure of the Belarusian sport, the training system, achievements of the women's teams and individual athletes. The representatives of the Ladies Sports Academy spoke about their activity and plans to set up a women's basketball team and invited the secretary general of the Belarusian Basketball Federation to take part in a large-scale forum highlighting the role of women in sport. The event is slated for November 2020.
“Despite cultural differences between countries, issues related to women's sport development are similar everywhere,” said Anastasiya Marinina. “All over the world, specialists are concerned about the issues of leadership, gender equality, involvement of children in physical education, promotion of healthy lifestyles. The Abu Dhabi Ladies Sports Academy employs more than just professionals. These are managers who put all their energy and enthusiasm into their favorite business, setting the most ambitious goals. We are confident that our cooperation will be productive and mutually beneficial.”
Fatima bint Mubarak Ladies Sports Academy is a non-for-profit state institution of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Founded in October 2010, the academy is headed by Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The visit of the Belarusian delegation is held as part of the memorandum of cooperation between the Presidential Sport Club and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, with the assistance of Baniyas Club and the Belarusian embassy in the United Arab Emirates.
