We are Together. Sports: Belarus' Valiantsina Shyts wins 7.5km sitting skiing event

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – Belarusian para cross-country skier Valiantsina Shyts won the 7.5km freestyle sitting event at the Paralympic Games “We are Together. Sports” in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian clocked 21:51.9 to finish the 7.5km distance more than one minute ahead of her rivals. Second and third were Russian athletes Marta Zainullina and Natalia Kocherova.

“The track is rather difficult. There are no downhills where you can have a little rest. These games are very important for me. We were warmly welcomed. Everything is great here. Everyone is friendly,” said Valiantsina Shyts.

Russian athletes occupied the podium in the men's 10km event. The Alternative Paralympic Games will officially open on 18 March. Competitions will be held through 21 March.
