Viktor Liventsev Memorial Tournament kicks off in Minsk

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – The 19th edition of the Boxing EUBC Viktor Liventsev Memorial International Tournament has kicked off at the Chizhovka Arena, BelTA has learned.

Taking part in the tournament are the best athletes from Belarus, Russia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Afghanistan and Congo. The first competition day will feature an opening ceremony and first bouts. Semifinals are scheduled for 24 November, finals will take place on 26 November.

The Viktor Liventsev Memorial Tournament is the successor of traditional competitions for the prizes of the Palace of Sports. During his lifetime nine tournaments were held, and in 2009 it was decided to name them in memory of the famous sports functionary (Viktor Liventsev was the Chairman of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the BSSR in 1958-1978).

The event is organized by the Sports and Tourism ministry, the National Olympic Committee, Minsk City Hall and the Belarusian Boxing Federation.
