Two Belarusians among top three at Pavel Lednev Cup final

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) - Anastasiya Prokopenko and Iryna Prasiantsova won medals at the Pavel Lednev Cup pentathlon final, BelTA has learned.

The women's final in Moscow featured 12 Belarusian and 19 Russian athletes. Gulnaz Gubaydullina of Russia secured a champion title, with Belarusian Anastasiya Prokopenko and Iryna Prasiantsova winning silver and bronze respectively. Before the final program Anastasiya Prokopenko was 18th but showed the best time in the cross country running to finish second. Iryna Prasiantsova climbed from the 8th to the 3rd position. Volha Silkina of Belarus was leading for a long time but placed 5th after finishing 18th in the cross country running.

Belarus won three medals at the Pavel Lednev Cup final. Earlier, Ilya Palazkov clinched bronze in the men's event.
