TOKYO, 5 August (BelTA) - Damian Warner of Canada won the Olympic decathlon tournament at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, BelTA has learned.
The Canadian athlete set a new Olympic record with 9,018 points. Silver went to Kevin Mayer of France (8,726), with Australia's Ashley Moloney securing bronze with 8,649 points. Vitali Zhuk of Belarus scored 8,131 points to place 13th overall.
Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium won the Women's Heptathlon with 6,791 points. Silver went to Anouk Vetter of the Netherlands (6,689). Her teammate Emma Oosterwegel claimed bronze (6,590).
