Three Belarusians secure Tokyo berths at European Olympic Boxing Qualifiers

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) - Belarusian boxers won three Olympic berths at the European Olympic Boxing Qualifiers in Paris, BelTA learned from coach of the Belarusian national boxing team Aleksandr Yermashevich.

In the Men's 63kg Dzmitry Asanau claimed the Olympic quota place after beating Denmark's Nikolai Terteryan 5-0. The Belarusian then won the quarterfinal bout against Pole Damian Durkacz and defeated Russian Gabil Mamedov in the fight for the place in the decisive stage of the competition.

Aliaksandr Radzionau secured the Olympic slot in the Men's 69kg defeating Miroslav Kapuler of Israel in the round of Last 16 and then Nihat Ekinci of Turkey.

In the Men's 75kg, Belarus' Vitali Bandarenka beat Belgium's Lancelot Proton De La Chapelle to earn an Olympic berth. Earlier he defeated Turkey's Serhat Guler and lost to Gleb Baksha of Russia.

Mikhail Dauhaliavets, Uladzislau Smiahlikau, Yulia Apanasovich, Halina Bruyevich, and Viktoryya Kebikava failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

A total of 77 Olympic slots were distributed the Olympic qualifying event in Paris. The European qualification resumed from where it was suspended on 16 March 2020. The official draw held in London on 13 March 2020 and the competition schedule based on its results remained in effect. The established results (recorded from 14 to 16 March 2020 in London) were also not subject to revision.
