Slovakia steamrolls Russia 12:0 during Christmas ice hockey tournament in Minsk

MINSK, 4 January (BelTA) – The Slovakian team secured a confident victory over the Russian team during the second match in Group B as part of the 13th Christmas Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament for the Prize of the President of Belarus in Minsk on 4 January, BelTA has learned.

Thanks to the accomplishment Slovakia now tops the tournament score table in Group B. In Minsk Russia is represented by the amateur ice hockey team Samrau, which is comprised of veteran players of the teams Salavat Ulaev (Ufa) and Molot (Perm).

In Chizhovka Arena earlier on 4 January Finland beat Germany 11:3. 5 January will see a Russia vs Finland game (13:00) and a Germany vs Slovakia game (17:00) in the second round in Group B.

The first day of this year's Christmas Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament will end with a Belarus vs UAE game. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko will play as part of the Belarusian team. The game will begin at 19:00. A ceremony to solemnly open the Christmas Amateur Ice Hockey Tournament will take place before the game.
