MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 12 Aryna Sabalenka solved U.S. world number 55 Coco Gauff 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2) in two hours and 15 minutes to seal her place in the J&T Banka Ostrava Open quarterfinal, BelTA has learned.
Aryna Sabalenka will face Spain's world number 73 Sara Sorribes Tormo for a spot in the semifinal.
Earlier, Belarus' world number 14 Victoria Azarenka reached the J&T Banka Ostrava Open quarterfinal, seeing off world number 85 Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka and and Belgium's Elise Mertens will face the Latvian-Russian tandem of Jelena Ostapenko and Vera Zvonareva in the women's doubles quarterfinal.
At the Challenger tournament in Istanbul Belarus' world number 129 Ilya Ivashka defeated Turkey's world number 215 Cem Ilkel 6-2, 6-2. In the quarterfinal Ilya Ivashka will play Kazakhstan's world number 173 Dmitry Popko.
