MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) — Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka reached the Berlin Open quarterfinal, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian weathered an overnight delay after the first set, then came from 4-2 down in the second to defeat qualifier Rebeka Masarova from Switzerland (World No.112)
6-2, 7-6 to reach the quarterfinal.
Aryna Sabalenka advances to the last eight in Berlin to face 2Kazakhstan’s world number 11 Elena Rybakina, who held off World No.74 Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic.
The Berlin Open will be over on 22 June. The winner will earn 500 points and €142,600.
