MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka has reached her first Miami Open final with a solid 6-2, 6-2 victory over World No.7 Jasmina Paolini of Italy in an hour and 12 minutes, BelTA has learned.
On her way to the final Aryna Sabalenka defeated Bulgaria’s world number 64 Viktoriya Tomova and World No.102 Elena-Gabriela Ruse of Romania, China’s World No. 9 Zheng Qinwen, and reigning champion Danielle Collins of the United States (World No.15).
The Belarusian will face No. 4 seed Jessica Pegula of the United States, who ended the run of teenage wild card Alexandra Eala of the Philippines (World No.140), 7-6, 5-7, 6-3. In the quarterfinal the 19-year-old Filipina player stunned world number two Iga Swiatek of Poland.
The total prize money in the 2025 Miami Open, which is to be over on 30 March, is $8.9 million. The winner will earn $1.2 million and 1,000 points.
