Registration open for Minsk Half Marathon

MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - Registration is open for Minsk Half Marathon due on 9 September, head of the Belarusian Athletics Federation Vadim Devyatovsky said at a press conference, BelTA has learned.

The registration will be open for four months and anyone can apply through the official website of Minsk Half Marathon at www.minskhalfmarathon.by.

Vadim Devyatovsky noted that the layout of the medals of the upcoming event has already been designed. About 35,000 runners are expected to take part in the half marathon in 2018.

The Minsk Half Marathon prize pool has been increased to $50,000. “The bulk of the prize money will be shared among the best in the 21.1km half marathons for men and women,” Vadim Devyatovsky noted.

The 5.5km race and 10km race will start at 12.00. The 21.1km half marathon will begin at 9.00.

Schoolchildren, students, seniors, people with disabilities, the Chernobyl clean-up workers and war veterans shall not need to pay a registration fee for the 5.5km race.

In 2018 Minsk Half Marathon will be held for the fourth time. In 2017 it featured about 30,000 runners.

Minsk Half Marathon is an IAAF Bronze Label Road Race and has been recognized as a 5-star quality road race by the European Athletics Association.
