Press secretary: Excellent conditions for journalists in Beijing Olympic media center

MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) - The Main Media Center of the 24th Winter Olympic Games in Beijing has excellent conditions for the work of media representatives, press secretary of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee Victoria Mennanova told BelTA.

“So far, there are not many journalists in Beijing. Most of them will arrive closer to 4 February when Beijing will host the official opening of the Games. For the time being we can explore the place of future work and get used to the new environment. The organizers made sure that things are as comfortable as possible for journalists. We have workplaces and also light snacks, such as cookies, fruits, hot and cold drinks, and also very convenient applications that have everything we need: the schedule of competitions, shuttle transport and other necessary information. Probably, the main and only inconvenience is very strict anti-Covid restrictions, but we can't get away from this. Every day we need to log information about our health in a special application and take PCR tests. Places for this procedure are located in the fresh air, which is very convenient. There are polyclinics, centers for doping control in the Olympic villages,” Victoria Mennanova said.

“As for the living conditions of the participants of the Olympics, we are happy with them too, both in the village of the mountain cluster in Zhangjiakou, where Belarusian biathletes, skiers and freestylers are based, and in the main Olympic village in Beijing. Living conditions are very comfortable, food is also good. Athletes can find meals to their taste, both from Chinese national cuisine and also European cuisine. There are many shops, both grocery and nonfood, and gift shops where you can buy products with the Olympic symbols. Souvenirs featuring Panda Dundun, the mascot of the Olympic Games, are the most popular now,” the press secretary of the Belarusian National Olympic Committee noted.

The 24th Winter Olympic Games will be held in Beijing from 4 to 20 February. Team Belarus includes 29 athletes and will perform in six sports.
