Olympics 2024: Belarus to compete for medals in wrestling, canoe sprint, weightlifting 

MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – Belarusians continue to compete for medals at the ongoing 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games, BelTA has learned.

Belarus’ wrestler Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau will eye bronze in repechage. On 9 August the Belarusian lost to Uzbekistan’s Razambek Zhamalov in the 74kg opening bout. His rival moved further to the final and Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau got a second chance. The Belarusian will face Slovakia’s Tajmuraz Salkazanov in the first round of repechage. 

Uladzislau Kravets of Belarus will compete in Men's K-1 1000m semifinal at the Olympic Nautical Stadium. The Belarusian will face seven rivals in Semifinal 2. Top four finishers will advance to the final which will be held on the same day. Yuliya Trushkina of Belarus will face eight rivals for a spot in Women’s C-1 200m final.

Belarus’ Yauheni Tsikhantsou will target medals in the men’s 102kg weightlifting event. His rivals will include weightlifters from Armenia, Georgia, Turkmenistan, China, Libya, Samoa, USA, Qatar, Bahrain, Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. Yauheni Tsikhantsou is a bronze medalist of the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships and a winner of the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships.
