Olympics 2024: Belarus’ Alina Zmushka into 100m breaststroke semifinal

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) - Belarusian swimmer Alina Zmushka has started her performance at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris, BelTA has learned.

Sunday's afternoon program started with the competitions in the women's 100m breaststroke, with 37 athletes divided into five preliminary heats. Alina took part inpenultimate heat where she where placed fourth with a time of1:06.37. In the overall table, the Belarusian is 11th. The top 16 advance to the semifinals which will be held tonight.

The day before Belarusian Ilya Shymanovich failed to qualify for the final. Another Belarusian, Anastasiya Shkurdai, will compete in the women’s 100m backstroke. 

A total of 13 medal events will be held in eight sports at the Paris Olympics on 28 July: three in swimming, two in judo, shooting and fencing each, and one in mountain biking, archery, skateboarding and rowing slalom each. The 2024 Games will last until 11 August. Team Belarus includes17 athletes in 10 sports.
