No medals for Belarus at 2024 Judo Grand Slam in Tashkent

MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – The 2024 Judo Grand Slam in Tashkent, Uzbekistan featured almost 500 athletes from 69 countries, including seven Belarusians, BelTA has learned.

In the men’s 90kg category Belarusian judokas Aliaksandr Sidoryk and Yahor Varapayeu opened the tournament with wins over athletes from Tajikistan but suffered losses in the next round.

Belarus’ Ruslan Halavachou beat Adam Bakytbek from Kyrgyzstan in the 73kg category. In the second round he lost to Germany’s Igor Wandtke. In the 100kg category Daniel Mukete defeated Brazil’s Leonardo Goncalves but lost to Poland’s Piotr Kuczera in the round of Last 16.  

In the women’s 63kg category Yana Makretskaya beat Nadia Guimendego from Central Africa but was stopped by Clarisse Agbegnenou of France in the next bout. In the 52kg category Kseniya Danilovich lost to Khorloodoroi Bishrelt of the UAE. In the 78kg category Darya Kantsavaya lost to France’s Fanny Estelle  Posvite.

The Judo Grand Slam in Tashkent featured 14 medal events. The next Grand Slam events will take place in Tbilisi and Antalya in late March.
