New date for EOC General Assembly announced

MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – The Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) took a decision to postpone its 50th General Assembly which was scheduled for 16-17 April. Due to the complicated COVID-19 situation it is difficult to hold the meeting in the spring with the participation of representatives of all the national European committees, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.

Thus, the event is slated to take place in Athens on 10-11 June. The agenda of the General Assembly includes the election of the president and the EOC Executive Committee.

At the previous meeting the decision was taken to do the utmost to organize the General Assembly offline and after the negotiations with the Greek side an agreement was reached to organize elections in June 2021, said acting EOC president Niels Nygaard.

The EOC Executive Committee meeting also discussed the recent visit of the EOC Coordination Commission for 2023 European Games to Poland. Chairman of the commission Hasan Arat and President of the Polish Olympic Committee Andrzej Krasnicki gave an update on the successful negotiations that took place during the four-day visit. Hasan Arat also presented a report on the ongoing work to compile the sports program and the roadmap which is to be completed within the next six months.
