Minsk hosts International Student Olympic Forum

MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) - The 5th edition of the International Student Olympic Forum “Olympic Movement, University Sport, Communication and Olympic Education” took place at the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the NOC of Belarus.

The event aimed to create a communication space for an open dialogue, to increase the importance of physical education and sport in higher education institutions, to promote Olympic values and to promote a healthy lifestyle among young people. More than 30 students and undergraduates from Belarus, Russia and Uzbekistan presented their reports and projects in the Scientific Platform and Festival of Innovative Projects sections.

Speaking at the forum were President of the Siberian Olympic Academy Vladimir Mikhalev, Chairperson of the Belarusian Olympic Academy, Dean of the Sports and Pedagogical Department of Mass Sports of the Belarusian State University of Physical Education Irina Guslistova, Director of the Belarusian Olympic Academy Natalya Aponchuk, medalist of world and European championships in rhythmic gymnastics Katsiaryna Halkina and Head of the Department of Martial Arts and Special Training of the Belarusian State University of Physical Education Viktoriya Kharkova. The participants of the conference considered the following areas: the Olympic movement in the modern world; the Olympic values and their promotion; sociocultural communication and Olympic development in the context of globalization; ecology and sustainable development of the environment; Olympic education, culture and heritage; tourism in the promotion of cultural and sports image of Belarus; prospects and problems of elite sports; sports and Olympic volunteering; student sports.

The forum was organized by the Belarusian Olympic Academy together with the NOC of Belarus, the Belarusian State University of Physical Education, the Belarusian Association of University Sport and the Council of Young Scientists.
