Marozava, Christian progress to Istanbul Open quarterfinal

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – Belarus' Lidziya Marozava and Kaitlyn Christian of the United States have reached the Istanbul Open quarterfinal, BelTA has learned.

In the round of Last 16 Marozava and Christian saw off Ingrid Neel and Elixane Lechemia of the United States, 6-4, 6-3.

Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus teamed up with Spain's Paula Badosa went off to a good start in the Stuttgart Open doubles dismissing the Australia-Tunisia duo of Ellen Perez and Ons Jabeur, 7-5, 7-5. World number 4 Aryna Sabalenka will open her singles run in the second round against Canada's world number 121 Bianca Andreescu.

Belarus' world number 44 Ilya Ivashka progressed to the Barcelona Open round of Last 32 seeing off world number 43 Pedro Martinez of Spain, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). Ilya Ivashka will next face Greece's world number 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas. Belarus' world number 155 Egor Gerasimov beat France's world number 70 Adrian Mannarino, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, and then lost to world number 10 Cameron Norrie of the UK, 7-5, 4-6, 4-6.

The tournaments in Istanbul, Stuttgart and Barcelona will finish on 24 April.
