MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) - It is important to help athletes who have retired from sport choose profession and adapt to a new life, two-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics Svetlana Khorkina, a guest of honor of Belarus' first National Athletes Forum, said as she addressed the forum in Minsk on 23 April, BelTA has learned.
"It is important to help athletes who have retired from sport choose a profession and adapt to a new life. It is very good that today athletes have the opportunity to attend seminars on this issue and learn to build their future with the help of qualified professionals rather than act on their own, through trial and error, as it was before," she said.
The decorated gymnast noted that people should seek to gain new knowledge and move forward building a successful career. "If there is a need to learn something new in order to succeed in life after sport do not hesitate to do that. As my coach said, if you are lost, ask which direction to go three times. The Russian International Olympic University in Sochi is happy to welcome new students from Belarus. I will also return there and will gladly learn new knowledge from competent professionals, true professionals," Svetlana Khorkina said.
All participants of the forum will receive international certificates of Russian International Olympic University, confirming their participation in the 16-hour educational seminar. The event has been organized by the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus and Russian International Olympic University.
